Obtaining a Hawaii insurance license is the first step towards becoming an insurance agent in Hawaii. You can obtain a Certificate of Completion after you have completed your Hawaii insurance pre-licensing course. The course is valid for one year from the date you completed it. You must bring two forms of valid signature identification, including:
A primary ID that includes a photograph and signature, a driver’s license, passport, or military ID. A debit or credit card that includes your signature and has not expired.
The exam consists of a general section covering basic knowledge of insurance products and a state section covering Hawaii’s insurance laws, legislation, rules, and practices.
The minimum passing score for the exam is 75. Depending on when NIPR receives the results of your exam, you must wait up to three (3) business days after passing the exam to apply for the license.
